Top 8 Tips To Enjoy "Stay At Home" Advisories

Spring is a-buzz with birds, buds and... viruses, oh my! Every living thing is seeking an opportunity to grow and prosper, and because we’re all connected in this universal energy flow, we are all in a position to find ourselves unknowingly attached to the good... the better... and the best.

See what I did there? You expected me to write "the good, the bad and the ugly", but I surprised you with something different... and better! This is known as "looking on the bright side" when it comes to the unexpected.

When we live in a state of fear and panic, we not only lose our ability to attract the beneficial abundance around us, but we also become more susceptible to the things we are trying to avoid in the first place.

We certainly all need to be taking cautionary measures during this viral outbreak, and are now being advised to avoid crowds and potential contact with unwanted pathogenic passengers... but what if instead of worrying, we choose to think like a virus – looking for new opportunities for growth. Use this time at home to take care of yourself in a healthy and enjoyable way. After all, home is sweet!

Here are some suggestions to make "stay at home" days not only fun, but beneficial to your health and well-being:

#1 TALK on the phone with your family and friends – stay in touch with your loved ones. Get something off your chest that you’ve been meaning to, amuse each other with your fondest memories or plan your potential summer staycation adventures. And did you know phones are actually an extension of fashion and beauty? Dial 0 for glamour!

#2 CLEAN the closet (oh yes, I did just go there!) Get a jump on spring cleaning and you may even have enough time to KonMari your whole castle. So where's the "fun", you ask? All the "buried treasures" of your life are about to be rediscovered, stirring up the memorable moments when these precious purchases came into your life. Or, it will just feel great to ditch all of that old crap.

#3 WATCH Amazon Prime's The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel for the best in vintage sleepwear, featured prominently in this trailer  swoon! Not enough internet bandwidth? Pull out those old DVDs and watch down memory lane.

#4 PAIR those leg warmers you just found in the depths of your drawers with our Sweet Shorts and resurrect the Jane Fonda Workout–make it burn!

#5 TAKE an on-line course through Udemy in almost any subject imaginable. Aquaculture, anyone? Or, use this time to share YOUR extraordinary knowledge and create your own outstanding on-line course at Teachable.

#6 MAKE that recipe you've been dying to try but you know will take all day, like this one for Milk Bar Pie which looks like it will take about a week to make, plus a few days just figuring out what "corn powder" is. Don’t forget your apron!

#7 WATCH more "Nighty" news and less nightly news. Anything that amuses you is worth your time. This just in! "After the long reign of severely masculine pajamas, these are the styles which are helping to revive the femininity and grace of another age. With this revival, fashion becomes, once again, a 24 hour challenge to the modern miss."

#8 READ. It might seem obvious but, read a book – or a whole series! (I'm looking at you Harry Potter.) You probably have a pile already, but if you're looking for a suggestion, my favorite book is fourth on the "most read of all time" list, Don Quixote. An amusing look at a bumbling hero who reads so many romances that he loses his mind and decides to become a knight and revive chivalry. You'll find the plot about losing one's mind from reading too much about a particular topic, very familiar.

#9 BONUS TIP: Shop ilovemynighty.com and lovely up your lockdown look. We deliver right to your door so you don’t need to leave your living room!

Most importantly, make observations. Observe your home and how you can make improvements that make you feel healthier and happier. Observe your body and see if there are any signs of illness that need to be diagnosed.  Observe your thoughts and learn ways to stay positive, kind and loving to yourself and anyone who is having a hard time. And, as always, dream lovelier!
